Kyocera Mita launches 'all-in-one' drivers for full range of printers
August 1, 2001
Kyocera Mita, leading supplier of ECOLaser page printers, digital copiers and multi-function products, has launched a new driver technology (KX Drivers), offering a single support for the company’s range of printing products across most Microsoft Windows platforms.
The new Kyocera Mita KX Drivers enable users of Kyocera Mita printing systems to operate the entire range via one common interface. As a result it significantly reduces the amount of training and support required from IT and network managers.
Developed in co-operation with Kyocera Mita's three main software development centres in Germany, Japan and the United States, the new KX Drivers offer improved performance, operating consistency as well as providing a single solution to increasingly complex printing technologies.
The all-in-one device driver technology supports multiple Kyocera Mita printers on Windows 95, 98, Millennium, NT 4.0 and 2000. A major advantage is that once users understand the common graphical user interface, this knowledge can be applied across the entire range. The interface also supports a wide variety of languages and the driver supports single and double-byte font driving for different symbols and characters.
Kyocera Mita Extended Drivers also support multiple page description languages, including PRESCRIBE, Kyocera's own command language, PCL5e, PCL5c, PCL XL, and KPDL. The driver allows selection between PCL5, PCL XL and KPDL, maximising choice and the ability to select the optimum system for the best performance and highest quality printing.
For PCL5-based page description languages the new driver allows Prologue and Epilogue data like macro calls and PRESCRIBE forms to be sent either at beginning/end of the print job or even at the beginning of selected pages.
